Using these recipes, follow the methods outlined under brewing.

"Tiffy" Bitter 4.6% (makes 23 litres)

This (All Grain) bitter, named after the Hawker Typhoon, is very drinkable with a richness provided by the addition of mild ale malt to the grain bill. A slightly nutty character is provided by the small quantity of Carafa special 3. Traditional British hop bitterness, flavour and aroma provided by Goldings and Fuggles.

40g Carafa Special 3

Hops

45g Goldings (90 minutes)

45g Fuggles (90 minutes)

10g Goldings (15 minutes)

10g Fuggles (15 minutes)

90 minutes indicates hops added at the start of a 90 minute boil. 15 minutes indicates hops added 15 from the end of the boil. The alpha acid content of batches of hops can vary so the amounts of hops may need to be altered to get identical results each time. Having said that, variety is the spice of life.
